mate i am in the same boat as you. but I personally don't think anything can be done to change that. It is completely based on IO's judgement when approving application.
There should be some basis for their judgement right? they just cannot make arbitrary decisions right? The thing is I am not sure what the procedure is when there are issues with the EAD. I am apprehensive to return my EAD for USCIS to make the correction as it expires in 3 weeks

The guy who collected the reading might have noted a wrong number. Probably, he noted the numbers from the adjacent meter. :)

Good point. I am just studying the trade off between "career" and "likability" of job or the job you love. I agree with you about money. I am not just for money or I do not want to be in rat race. (If money is the only goal we all can do real estate bussiness in India) After spending 10 years in engineering, I want to change the field. Even I am ready to go with little less than what I make now. . The main reason is I want to have just relaxing job, not much stress. At the same time it should be a longterm. I thought QA may be one of the field. I do not know yet it is a right thought.
IF you are not in for money there are many stress less jobs than the ones you asked about. You can have stressful job in any field and same is true for the opposite. I know a lot many in engineering that have stress free jobs. Not sure what made you thinking that being SAP consultant is stress free.
If you like teaching and don't have any criminal back ground consider teaching little kids. Most pleasant I can imagine. Work in post office.....VERY QUITE.....

Has the legal name of your company changed in the recent times. It happened in my case (used to work for a big 4 firm), the I-140 petition was filed with the name "123 extended business services LLC". Later the company lawyers applied another I-140 was filed with a name of "123 Consulting extended business services". Both my I-140's got approved within a gap of 3 months.
Actually this is my previous employer I-140. I ported the PD only.Do i have to worry.

I finally got my receipts today for my wife and me.
I got only my receipt number for I-765 on sep 18th and rest of it today.
I called the USCIS and the IO said all the receipts are there today.

Also I heard that the time limit of 6 months to apply the I-140 after the labor is approved is only applies to people who substuting the approved labor. I am not sure how far that is true, any clarifications would be great.
One must apply for 140 with in 180 days the labor approval. Labor substitution has been discontinued.

How do we get other's in similar situation and see if IV can get some clarificationas to the status and present backlog of background check applicants.
FBI had eliminated all backlog to less than six months and what happened to USCIS continuing to process the application for cases that FBI has not responded within six months.
IV can they collect a few applicants and then look into a class action WOM. (writ of Mandamus).

2) approved perm labor 2005
3) approved i-140 2006 (PD 2005)
4) ALL of above for company-A. 2006 company-B took over.
My lawyer said i cannot file and have to start again with new labor as merger/acquistion was 'asset only' type.
I want to self-file i-485 giving the company "name change" letter as the only proof along with the rest of regular documents. Company-B employer is in 100% support of my application.
SHOULD I just waste $$$$ money or take a chance ? PLEASE HELP...TIRED OF WAITING FOR LAST 5 years :(

If it is +ve there wont be any problem, well & good!
If not immediately go to Canada/India/.. and get stamped with H4 and safely comeback and do try what ever we want.
Otherway is, as the person status is in pending which is not illegal, we can apply H1 with relevant documentation with some other employer, but this need to be done before final result comes out from INS.

My wife and I work for Consulting firm. We both had to travel to India for Visa Stamping.
My wife appeared on 4th Dec 2010. The Consular asked all regular work questions to her and then issued her a blue 221(g) form asking for additional documents from employer. The documents asked were Employer tax returns, each state tax returns, employee list with their salaries and position.
My wife went to Mumbai Consulate again on 17th Jan with all additional documents. To our surprise she was interviewed same day by the same Consular and issued a visa. Typically in the past, the consulate would take the paper and would ask the candidate to wait for the email from consulate.
I appeared for my Visa interview on 23rd Dec and was issued yellow 22(g) form without checking any of my documents. I was asked how I am working on 7th year of my H1 and then issued a yellow form to verify my details. I was told to wait for email from consulate. Luckily I received email on 3rd business day. Typically these cases take anywhere from1 to 3 months.
At VFS center I met 3 more people who received yellow 221(g) and got reply from consulate with 2-3 business days.
My observation is that the Mumbai consulate was issuing 221(g)s to many folks. And this is not just limited to IT consultants but also affects Fulltime non-IT folks too. One of my friend from Manufacturing received yellow 221(g) last month but got email from consulate after 10 business days.
So to conclude, I think Mumbai consulate is issuing these 221(g)s a lot but at the same time the turn around time is also quick.

Thanks all for the advise/comments. Mixed opinion. I was hearing that, because of Indian Rs gaining stongly aganist US$, outsourcing to India is not cheap anymore. I also informed that hiring fulltime/permanent employee in US is cheaper than outsourcing. I do not know howmuch true it is.

Did the e-file process ask you to pay the biometric fee? I ask because my attorney informed me this afternoon that I do not need to pay a biometric fee, or send in a G-325A form, when sending in my EAD/AP renewal. Do please let me know if this is not the case.
On the Advance Parole justification, I would put in a note stating that I maintain close ties with my family in <country here> and travel frequently to see them. Additionally, state that you wish to travel abroad on vacation on multiple occasions through the year, and request them to grant you an Advance Parole for these reasons. This document request seems to be in lieu of the covering letter that's usually sent with an AP request. I'm sure they don't need you to send them ticket receipts.

you are right, this is still true. they write the counslate name which you attended last time for your F1 VISA interview. you can change that but again it takes time and money
In my case, my I-797 approval document itself specified which consulate I had to go to, which was Mumbai. In such a case, this consulate is notified of your H1B approval and you cannot go elsewhere for stamping. Of course, this was 8 years ago so things might have changed.
